Formation of MBHA

On 01 August 2001, with the strong support and guidance of the then Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism (now Ministry of Tourism), Persatuan Hotel Budget Malaysia (MBHA) came into being as the national organ of budget hotels in Malaysia rated two stars and below. Tuan Haji Zainal Bin Mat Isa was elected the first President and Dato’ Peter Minos as the Vice President.

National Secretariat

For administrative purposes, an MBHA Secretariat was established at above address, headed by the MBHA Secretary and the Management Committee formed solely to expedite administrative and policy matters..

Relocation of National Secretariat

In June 2003, the MBHA Secretariat relocated to 52, Tengkat Tong Shin, Kuala Lumpur, from the ministry address as a result of increasing activity traffic involving the MBHA with Ministry of Tourism and various government agencies of which were mostly held in the Federal capital.
