Pulau Kapas

Pulau Kapas, in English, means Cotton Island, inherited its name from the native because of its incomparable white beaches. Surrounded by crystal clear ocean, Pulau Kapas promises a spectacular getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life to quiet natural retreats with abundant sunshine and crisp clean air. Beside being a haven for swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, kayaking, boating and fishing, this island is also home to an infinite variety of hard and soft corals, the waters around the island abound with sea-shells, fish and turtles. Snorkelling and underwater diving are popular along stretched of shallow coral reefs of the island's western shore. A WWII shipwreck located 5 nautical miles offshore is the key attraction to divers. During the months of May to August, you can go squid fishing.

Tips of for Traveling to Pulau Kapas

Tourists are never been over charged on the snorkeling packages and services. Even though you are foreigner, the charges are standardized and need not be worried about the prices offered. The standard price of equipment is RM5 per day for mask & tuba and RM5 per day for fins.
Be sure that all food menu has price listed before ordering any food and drink.
To save your budget, you can order the cheapest dishes in the islands – Nasi Goreng ( fried rice ) or Mee Goreng ( Fried Noodles ).
Probably you may see and being disturbed by the mosquitoes – so remember to bring your insect repellent.

Getting there

Pulau Kapas is just 10 minutes away by speed boat from Marang jetty, which is 18km south of Kuala Terengganu or about 20 minutes by road. A taxi from Kuala Terengganu airport or the bus terminal costs RM 30.00 per cab for the journey to Marang Jetty. Boat transfer service may start as early as 7:00 and costs RM 25.00 per person (two way).
