Kuala Terengganu > Pulau Gemia

Gemia Island

Another new born tourism spot in Terengganu, Pulau Gemia is a tiny island which covers about 9 acres and its closest neighbour is Pulau Kapas. The island is a 15-minute boat ride away from the Marang. Because it is new and small and moreover, like other island hidden in the shadow of Redang and Perhentian Island , Gemia Island is less known to the tourists and retains its peaceful, mysterious and quiet atmosphere. It is the nest site for sea eagles, reef herons and many other birds. In an effort to save wildlife one of the beaches on the island is used as a turtle hatchery.

Turtle at Gemia Island Gemia Island is the few places where turtles ( including the giant Leatherback) come ashore to lay their eggs. The rugged rock face of Gemia Island invites exploration and provides an ideal spot for bird watching and has an abundance of fascinating marine life.
There is only 1 resort on the island to accommodate the raising number of tourists- Gem Wellness Spa & Island Resort . Rooms are stretching along the rocky shore. Though the beach is narrow, yet, like other islands in east coast Peninsular Malaysia, it is covered by white sand. Resort at Gemia Island
