The National Stud Farm, the one and only stud farm in Malaysia, isthe brainchild of Malaysia's first Prime Minister, the late Tunku Abdul Rahman. Owned by the Malaysia Totalisator Board, it was implemented to conduct studies on the viability of setting up a stud farm to breed local thoroughbred horses.
Today, the National Stud Farm is recognized as a successful breeding centre in the region with the best equine facilities for breeding thoroughbreds set in 120 acres of rolling pastoral land. There are currently 200 thoroughbreed racehorses on the farm and some of these are exported.
