Pahang > Krau Wildlife Reserve (Jerantut)
The Krau Wildlife Reserve covers over 53,000 hectares of lowland rainforest and is home to two aboriginal tribes - the Jah Hut and Siwang of Senoi group. The area is now protected natural heritage sanctuary of West Malaysia. The reserve's ecosystems spread across a broad spectrum of unspoiled tropical rainforest habitats.
Standing proud in this reserve is Malaysia's sixth tallest mountain, Gunung Benom at 2,110 meters above sea level. The crystal clear waters of Sungai Lompat are testimony to this as is the undisturbed primary forests that dress the rivers valleys, lowlands and hill dipterocarp forest zones with its lush greenery. Seraya, laurels, oaks, mosses, orchids, pitcher plants and ferns make up the typical landscape here. The abundance and diversity of the flora and fauna here have been recognized by scientists and researchers alike, prompting them to use the reserve as a natural laboratory to study the behavioral patterns of several primate species like gibbons, bats and forest plants. How To Get There The park located 25km from Bandar Temerloh. By Road : From Kuala Lumpur, take the Karak highway and follow the the road to Bandar Temerloh. Taxi services are available to the park.
