Masjid Jamek, the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur, is located st the confluence of the Klang and Gombak rivers where the founders of the city first set foot. The mosque was designed by AB Hubback, with cupolas and minarets top the brick walls and arched colonnades, from the inspiration of Mogul mosques in northern India. It was officially opened by the Sultan of Selangor 2 years after completion. It remained as the city's principal mosque until the opening of the National Mosque in 1965.

OPENING HOURS:

Saturday to Thursday 8.30am to 12.30pm and 2.30pm to 4pm.

Friday 8.30am to 11am and 2.30pm to 4pm

Masjid Jamek is a stone's throw from the Masjid Jamek LRT Station, accessible by both Putra and STAR LRT services.

TIPS: Conservative dress and removal of shoes during visit.
